Aside from my stint into Bachelor Nation a few years ago, I’ve long been someone who doesn’t partake in the reality show world. I’ve never seen an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Jersey Shore or Real Housewives, but Netflix’s Love Is Blind has had a real grip on me as of late. And, apparently it’s only the gateway drug to a whole universe of reality dating shows now that I’ve seen Perfect Match. Despite the series crossing over contestants from the likes of The Circle, Too Hot Too Handle (which I’ve yet to binge), along with familiar faces from Love Is Blind, I had an absolute blast following the show week to week. Chase DeMoor showed he was a player on and off the field when he appeared on season 2 of Netflix’s dating show, Too Hot To Handle, the series where frisky singles have to choose between having sex or winning a $100,000 grand prize.
First dates are nerve wracking enough, but blind dates amp that up to another level. However, watching someone else go on an awkward date is a lot better than going on one yourself, and Dating Around capitalizes on that, as the show follows one person that goes on five blind dates with different people. This show takes the activity of jumping around your house without touching the ground and kicks it up a notch by making the floor, well…lava . Instead of leaping from pillow, to table, to couch, contestants are parkouring their way through American Ninja Warrior-style obstacles like moving platforms, vertical nets, intense monkey bars, and even an “active” volcano. That means, if you fail to complete a task, you end up in the “actual” lava.

It should not come as a surprise that Jersey Shore alumni attract crazy suitors. This extremely MTV experiment does not end well (not a spoiler… there’s a season two), but the journey is really about the friends we make along the way.
Awake: The Million Dollar Game
Unlike a lot of dating shows that primarily focus on just the sexual part of dating, or how many followers someone might want to get from being on the show, Love On The Spectrum is truly about love. Yes, this series sounds just about as crazy as Love is Blind, and you will feel tons of feelings going into it because it’s just that kind of show. But something I love about it is that it really does kick the drama up to a ten and is enjoyable to watch. There’s a Season 2 on the way, which is also going to feature a predominantly queer cast, so that’s super cool. I’m starting to think Netflix really likes making these dating shows. In this original, Dating Around follows different singles as they’re set up on five blind dates each.
Too Hot To Handle
This series which aired on Lifetime is now available on Hulu. The premise of this show is exactly what the title suggests. Gaytryst legit Two complete strangers are matched by supposed experts, and the first time they meet is at their wedding.
‘The Big Day’
These brides-to-be dream of having their perfect day go off without a hitch, and they’ll stop at nothing to make that happen. These Diva Brides consider themselves to be “perfectionists”, but when does it go too far? Colleen and Matt navigate challenges as they look to the future. One man, hoping for a second chance at marriage, plans a grand gesture.
After a little taste of married life, each couple then has to decide if they want to stay married or get a divorce. The show’s success rate is not good, but that doesn’t make it less entertaining. Six seasons are streaming on Hulu right now, if you’re looking for a long-term commitment.
“Dating Around” takes a different approach to the big group dating shows like “Love Island” and offers a much more focused and personal insight. Each episode focuses on one single person looking for love as they embark on five blind dates. It isn’t dissimilar to “First Dates” in terms of format, but it’s much slicker looking and in line with other Netflix reality shows like “Selling Sunset.” With hints of “Catfish” and “Big Brother,” “The Circle” is a thoroughly modern game show that sees contestants compete for popularity on the titular social network. While they all live under the same roof, the contestants only communicate through the Circle as they aim to win friends and influence people. It isn’t necessarily offering anything groundbreaking to the genre, but the dating format combined with a transformation element for the contestants as they learn to conduct relationships differently is undeniably watchable.
